Elevator,you must have been too busy looking out for the Zombies and Vampires in the back blocks of Bendigo.... ;)
Do they have a "strange wild cat" myth out that way like they do in Bacchus Marsh? :hmm:

Hi Fourfy, no just busy at work. :(
Bendigo doesn't have a big cat myth that I am aware of, however, many years ago before I moved to Bendigo, (Ironically when I was returning from a chess night in Ballarat). I had the privelege of seeing the famous "Musk Panther".
It had received a great deal of press in the Daylesford Advocate but the mystery was solved when it turned out to be a fully grown rotweiler that hadn't had its tail docked as a puppy, (and liked to cross the road at night in front of cars).
Speak to Fred... errr, Barry from the Bush :uhoh: if you wish to know about panthers.
The strangest thing I ever saw crossing the road late at night though was the endangered tiger quoll, which in the headlights looked like a giant spotted ferret. :lol:

he he Egor, I was actually referring to me making the moves properly on my board at home (which you couldn't see).
I once made a mistake in the old postal correspondence chess by setting up a position with an 'a' pawn pushed accidentally one square further forward than it actually was, which changed the nature of the whole position. :-)

Hi Egor,
Up until your last move, I had the position deriving from:
1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 c5 4.c3 Qc7 5.Bd3 Nbd7 6.Nbd2 e5 7.dxe5 Nxe5 8.Bb1 Be7 9.O-O O-O 10.Qe2 Bg4 11.e4 dxe4 12.Bxe4 Bd6 13.Bc2 Rfe8 14.Qd1 Rad8
15.Kh1 Nxf3 16.Nxf3 Bxh2
Which would give:
WK:h1 WQ:d1 WR:f1,a1 WB:c1,c2 WN:f3 WP:a2,b2,c3,f2,g2
BK:g8 BQ:c7 BR:e8,d8 BB:g4,h2 BN:f6 BP:a7,b7,c5,f7,g7,h7
Now I have to wonder if we really have been setting up the position correctly, for if your next move is 17.Bg5, then I can simply capture your Queen on d1 with my Rook on d8, which (unless I am overlooking something), would equate to an horrendous and (given your previous play) uncharacteristic, blunder on your behalf.
Given that we currenltly don't have the PGN uploader thingy working, it is perfectly understandable if you have made a blue in setting up the pieces. If this is the case then may I suggest that you choose another 17th move, (rather than perhaps spoil an interesting game with a one move boo-boo).
If I have made a blue in setting up the position, then I apologize. Would you please double check the position?
If it is still your wish to play 17.Bg5, then my response will be 17... Rxd1.
Cheers,
EE :-)

I have inputted the moves and I agree with the move order so far. It seems that both of you have been playing the same position.

Thank you for the confirmation, GG. :)
Of course, this doesn't mean we aren't prone to errors when playing through the moves, analysing our next moves by moving the pieces on the board, taking the analysis moves back, setting up the position wrong ... and then deciding on our next moves when using the wrong position!
I know that this can also happen even if there is a functional PGN uploader thingamijiggy, but given that some contestants are refusing to make any more moves until the uploader is active again, I think it only fair to those opponents of mine who are brave enough to "fly without a PGN uploader", to have the chance to reconsider their move if, on the surface, it seems an obvious howler.
Of course, Egor could prove me wrong and may have intentionally played this move as a positional sacrifice, which forces a winning combination that I cannot yet see. :)
PS: Do you know if there is any timeframe when it comes to restoring the PGN uploader functionality? It certainly makes things a lot easier when continuing these online games, and as a player you have fewer doubts about having set up an accurate position. ;)
Hi EE,
Thanks I had the position wrong, I did not have the rook on d8 when I made the move. If I can retake the move it is Bd2.:)

Garvin, I will stop offering conditional moves if you insist, however I am not entirely sure why you would wish me to do so: they have been a proven time saver in Correspondence Chess games for many years.

Can you please stop offering conditional moves?
Why?
Why?
Would it be ok to offer conditional moves in an over-the-board tournament?
As a tournament game I'm guessing that tournament rules apply and that it'a against the rules.
Some might consider it intimidation.

Hi EGOR, would you please be so kind as to check the position? The position I have from our moves prior to your 20th move has your rooks on g1 and a1, and my king on g8 (which means he wouldn't be in check if a rook were able to capture on f7)... which suggests to me that one of us (if not both of us! ;) ) may have the position confused. (Actually my first thought was you may have accidentally posted a move from another game).
The position I have stems from:
1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 c5 4.c3 Qc7 5.Bd3 Nbd7 6.Nbd2 e5 7.dxe5 Nxe5 8.Bb1 Be7 9.O-O O-O 10.Qe2 Bg4 11.e4 dxe4 12.Bxe4 Bd6 13.Bc2 Rfe8 14.Qd1 Rad8 15.Kh1 Nxf3 16.Nxf3 Bxh2 17.Bd2 Bxf3 18.gxf3 Bf4 19.Rg1 Rxd2
Which to me gives the following position (apologies for the "ASCII" board... Black pieces in lower case, White pieces in upper case).
;_;_;_;_;r;_:k;_;
;p;p;q;_;_;p;p;p;
;_;_;_;_;_;n:_;_;
;_;_;p;_;_;_;_;_;
;_;_;_;_;_;b;_;_;
;_;_;P;_;_;P;_;_;
;P;P;B;r:_;P;_;_;

Please advise.
Thank you, EE :-)

Hi Egor, again I am a little confused.
From the position I have, you can play 21.Qc1, but it would not place my king in check. Did you mean to play 21.Qg1 check instead?
Cheers, EE :-)

HI EE,
I'm really sorry, yes it's meant to be Qg1+
If I make another silly mistake like this in this take it as the move, unless it's illegal, which will help me to be more careful or learn from my mistakes.
