I have often marvelled at conditional problems, and found this one amusing

3rR3/2np3R/1K1p4/2ppN3/1Npk1p2/2ppb3/3P3B/7b w - - 0 8

It calls on white to mate in 8 moves and the injunction is that he may take no black pawn,

have fun, Macavity

PS Will be back to edit FEN position to make it appear

Have got the position within the code, but it only is displaying a tiny interface? anyone in admin would be delighted to know what i have done wrong? Please would someone fix this, and suggest how to remedy in future?

thanks in advance, M

Play the shortest game ending in stalemate?

Try this out! courtesy of Sam Loyd

1.e3 a5 2.Qh5 Ra6 3.Qxa5 h5 4.Qxc7 Rah6 5.h4 f6 6.Qxd7+ Kf7 7.Qxb7 Qd3 8.Qxb8 Qh7 9.Qxc8 Kg6 10.Qe6

Isn't that cute!!!

Take care, God Bless, Macavity

And here is another gem:
One of Sam Loyd's famous puzzles is this:
Play a game of 17 moves where all the pieces, except the kings, come off the board.

Solution:

1.c4 d5 2.cxd5 Qxd5 3.Qc2 Qxg2 4.Qxc7 Qxg1 5.Qxb7 Qxh2 6.Qxb8 Qe5 7.Qxc8+ Rxc8 8.Rxh7 Qxb2 9.Rxh8 Qxa2 10.Rxg8 Qxd2+ 11.Kxd2 Rxc1 12.Rxg7 Rxb1 13.Rxf7 Rxf1 14.Rxf8+ Kxf8 15.Rxa7 Rxf2 16.Rxe7 Rxe2+ 17.Kxe2 Kxe7

Amazing how empty the board can seem isn't it?

Take care, God Bless, Macavity

this one is quite interesting in that the premise was to give 10 discovered checks in a row,

as before I expect the FEN position to not work, but hopefully someone will tell me how to fix that soon,

1bb1R1q1/3n4/Q5p1/1R2N2B/r4nK1/r7/3Bk3/8 w - - 0 35

In any case, enjoy and God Bless, Macavity

3rR3/2np3R/1K1p4/2ppN3/1Npk1p2/2ppb3/3P3B/7b w - - 0 8

I reproduced this by not using the code function.
