Matching a lot of his less media focused prominent role in Apollo 11, a lot of the media have missed that Apollo 11 Command Module Pilot Michael Collins died on April 28 2021, aged 90 after a battle with cancer.

Michael Collins was also on the intercom for Apollo 8, which gave the instruction to Commander Frank Borman, to 'go for TLI', which sent Apollo 8 on the course for the moon and for the first time in history, gave a species the ability to leave their own planet and to travel to another terrestrial body.

In later interviews about that transmission for Apollo 8, Michael Collins quite often would say that he wished he had prepared something more dramatic or fitting the occasion, rather than something as mundane and simple as 'go for TLI'.

Vale Michael Collins, once the most isolated human in history

On the most expensive unnecessary trip in history. But not everyone would be sufficiently brave and adventurous to venture on such a trip
