The 2020 Victorian Country Chess Championship was due to be held on 10 and 11 October in Geelong. However given the current restrictions on holding public events in Victoria due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the executive of the Victorian Rural Chess League have taken a decision to postpone the event until later in the year. We have discussed this with the Geelong Chess Club and they agree with that decision.

At this stage we are still hopeful that it may be possible to hold the 2020 Victorian Country Chess Championship at Geelong in a face to face format early in December. That may of course prove to be impossible but at this stage it is really just too early to tell. The executive will continue to monitor developments and will provide a further update early in November.

A most interesting, well organised and popular tournament.
I have attended twice and had a great time watching country Victorian chess players competing for the flag in a wonderful and hospitable venue!
I wish this nightmare ends soon and the Victorian Country Chess Championship comes back to life in all its grace and glory!
