What on earth do they call it "Chess 9LX" for, thereby mixing up two different number systems?

So people take notice? ;)

People get confused.
Not many understand the sequence 900 + L + X = 960 :D
Maybe Hans-Walter Schmitt thought CMLX was too long, and 960 was too simple? :D
Now, I understand most chessplayers know but for those who don't
960 is the number of different starting positions that are possible in the game.

Then disaster struck :( Blundering a piece due to a mouse slip vs Fabi! (*)

Let's hear it from Gary

Then earlier today another loss - to Naka this time and a draw vs Dominguez.

Magnus also lost to So.

Aronian now leads with 4.5/6

(*) not sure if he had an equal, or better or even a winning position when the slip happened
-all of the above opinions were made by the experts during the commentary.

Magnus had a very nice win over Caruana in game 3, with a nice positional exchange sacrifice for light square domination. Caruana's DSB on h8 never impacted the game.

Could just have easily been on 0/3 really. Garry was in big trouble against both Alireza and Magnus.

Right you are. Overall, the "equalizing injustice of chess" was at work.

A mathematical version of a hybrid word or macaronic language?
