Hi all, not sure if this has been posted elsewhere (I couldn't see a reference with a quick look - mods feel free to move, merge or delete).

Last Thursday, FIDE published a medical security policy for getting over the board events running again during COVID-19, including a list of guidelines and the reasoning behind them.

Among other things, guidelines include:
- starting out with small scale, regional events,
- players wearing masks, and cleaning all chess sets, (boards, pieces & clocks) plus chairs and tables before and after each round.
- social distancing of 1 metre between players, and between tables (this is more practical than the 1.5 metres currently in Australia as it makes it difficult to reach the back rank)

I'd be interested to know what others on here think.

This could be the way to play!

That's not a bad idea, for slower time controls at least. Might need to add 5sec increment for moving the opponent's piece on your board.

Chess life in Europe clearly returns. And some events in Norway and the Baltic states have been completed already!
