Does that mean that the Sat Allegro won't be held on Sat, Dec 8th?

Does that mean that the Sat Allegro won't be held on Sat, Dec 8th?

Well, this replaces the allegro...similar time control - just a much larger event :).

On another note, I wonder if byes in rounds 1 and 7 rather than 1 and 2 are possible....

(…) - just a much larger event :).

size matters in this case... (:D) I can't make it early.
then again that's why the gods have introduced the idea of half point byes.
I might disapprove of them in general (particularly those awarding half points for not showing up)
but if need be (and I think need will be) I will take a couple of early ones and maybe forfeit the third round!

For the Sun blitz I can't make it due to the R5 of the Chess Artists tournament.
Second thoughts I might ask Aleksei for a bye that day, we'll see how it goes!

Promises to be a truly fun event. Good luck to the players in the rapid! I won't be able to play for entire weekend due to the sad realization there is life (e.g. work) beyond chess and entire weekend at chess club is a bit too much so will ''sacrifice'' the Rapid but will be there for the blitz!

A reminder that the tournament starts tomorrow at 10:00 am.

With the hot weather, it will be of great comfort to players that MCC is fully air-conditioned - so you needn't suffer the heat while playing.

Congrats, I have had only one outstanding result in a rapid, was the Filipino "championship" associated with the Grand Fiesta at Bankstown showground about 18 years ago where I managed to work myself up to board one against a few of their top players. It was over a few days and the amazing part was that I was also each night attending a cousin's wedding party that also went on for a couple of days to about 2 in the morning. I went to sleep at the wheel and woke up driving with two wheels on the median strip on Parramatta Road. I even out performed Lloyd Fell who was also in attendance in spite of his sometimes controversial view of some people. The Hume Highway at Bankstown will eventually get you to Melbourne chess club.

Overall

The event had prizes for first and second overall, calculated by adding the winning scores.

Congratulations to IM Ari Dale with 8.5/9 first place in the rapid and 7/9 equal first in the blitz for 15.5/18 total and first place.

Second place was won by the deserving Hans Gao (3rd place with 7/9 in the rapid and 7/9 equal first in the blitz, 14/18 total).

Speaking for the organisers, I hope everyone who participated enjoyed the event, and Elizabeth Warren (Tournament Director) and I (as arbiter) welcome your suggestions as to what might be improved for next year. The current intention is that this become an annual event, and time will tell. :)
