While Australia is still deciding where to hold its next Open Championship (that is only 5 months away :)...but still deciding)...
105th British Championship is on the way. Justin Tan is Playing. I believe it is his first event since acquiring the GM title!

Pedantic note: He hasn't acquired the title yet, only qualified for it. :P

Will the actual title be conferred at the next FIDE meeting, presumably at the Olympiad?

Yes it is listed for the Congress at the Olympiad and by the time it is approved it will have finished the 60 day public display requirement so it should show on his player card a few days after Congress, ie around the second week of October.

Rd4, Justin had a very interesting ending against Gm Hebden. Could not win in the end unfortunately.

It looks good on paper but I don't think he defeated or drew with anyone higher-rated than himself. His rating of 2481 matches my postcode - maybe I am due for many draws tonight.

He did actually draw with one opponent whose rating at the start of the event was higher than his rating at the start of the event. However by the end of the event that was no longer the case as Justin's rating had gone up to 2504 on the August list. chess-results only shows the player's rating at the start of a tournament.
