For enquiries please email alexstahnke96@gmail.com
Only 2 half point byes allowed. No byes in the final round. Forfeit time is 30 minutes after the commencement of each round.

There will be a canteen offering plenty of brain food! The location is convenient and there's heaps of parking. I've hired a hall so the venue will be very peaceful; no better way to unwind than a weekend of chess.

Entry form can be viewed at: http://bit.ly/1VNJ39C

Looks like 14...g5 was best for Black in Brodie's game posted above. After 15.e5 (which seems to be the only move) both 15...gxh4 and 15...dxe5 lead to complex but apparently roughly equal (with best play) positions. After the played move 14...Nfxe4 black is already losing.

The N sac isn't actually necessary and black could have put up some sort of resistance with 19...Bd7 which probably leads to an unappealing ending a pawn down.

Thank you to all the players who took part in the event, I appreciate all the support that I received. Also credit to the parents behind the scenes, they all do a great deal and deserve the recognition. A big thanks to my mum, Merci, for holding the forte down in the canteen. Lastly, to Brodie and my dad, Axel I wouldn't have been able to run this tournament without you guys.

The prize money was based on 50 entires, but unfortunately there were only 40 players. I've decided to wear the loss in the spirit of the tournament. Hopefully there will be many more to come. Congratulations to the winners:

1st Gene Nakachi - $600 (picket fence 6/6)
=2nd Tony Dowden - $250 (5/6 points)
=2nd Tony Zhong - $250 (5/6 points)

Best Junior Prize (U18); 1st Tom Maguire - $200 (4.5/6 points) **Tony Zhong was eligible, but won a higher prize of equal second (players can only win 1 prize). Therefore, Tom wins by default**

Best Under 1600 rated: =1st Hikaru Oka - $100 (4/6 points) and =1st Zachary Pomerenke - $100 (4/6 points)

Best Under 1000 rated & unrated: =1st Lucas Su - $66 (3/6 points) =1st Sze Yong Ng - $66 (3/6 points) =1st Rover Leigh Mercado - $66 (3/6 points)

A big congrats to all the winners- especially Gene on his picket fence this time! And yes, a big thank-you to Alex Stahnke, Brodie McClymont, Axel Stahnke and Merci Stahnke for all the work that went into putting on The Wilde Weekender! 40 players is a pretty good turnout for your first event guys! Good luck with your next one!

See you all soon - hopefully at The Wendy Terry Memorial at Rothwell on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12 and at The Gold Coast Open at the beginning of the June School holidays, with an Open, an Under 1600 and an Under 1000 section!

That is a very decent gesture indeed !

Very generous and not always seen.

As penance for not playing I have transferred $200-00 to your bank account to help offset the costs.

That should cover entry for me and two other of my lazy mates (they know who they are....)

I am with the CBA so it might take a day or two to appear in your Suncorp-Metway account.

Thanks very much for organising a tourney.

cheers Garrett.

Garrett Your donation of $200 to Alex will be very much appreciated by him for sure and will almost certainly see him organize another one before the year is out! Thanks a million for the 200!

Thank you very much Garrett for your generosity. I'm extremely grateful. I've learnt a lot from this tournament, and the next one will definitely be bigger and better! Stay tuned.
