Arnold Classic Chess (March 18-20)
The Arnold Classic is Australia’s largest multi-sports festival, this year it will be running from Friday March 18th to Sunday March 20th. The festival is expanding, last year there were 55, 000 attendees and this year new sports have been added. Arnold himself is a big fan of chess and this year for the first time in Australia chess will be part of the event. The event is organised in partnership with the Melbourne Chess Club. During the 3 days the chess area will be open from 10am to 5pm with the opportunity to play some social chess while the organised events are not running. There will be 3 tournaments, a blitz, an allegro and a team’s allegro as well as a couple of simultaneous displays, junior coaching and more.

Each participant will receive a free 3 day expo pass (of value $60) so they can enter the exhibition and view the many other sports on display.

Arnold himself will be visiting the chess event at some stage over the 3 days to watch. He may see one of your games.

Location: All chess events will be run in Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre Plenary Foyer 3-1. To gain access to the chess event it is not necessary to purchase a ticket to the expo.

I registered by SMS to Elizabeth Warren quite some time ago for the allegro on Sat 19 March.

Not sure if I am on the list of registered players. How to pay? Will be great to have a posting here say listing all the registered players and some information about how to pay, how to get tickets for entry etc.

The allegro today was fun indeed. The venue is freezing and very noisy...btu somehow I still enjoyed...and even coming back tomorrow for the teams event!

Did you win?

I did. Was lucky though. James took a quick draw against Ari in the last round but when I offered a draw to Jack, he opted to play for win and lost.
