Hello Forum people!

I'm just here to try and spread the word about the 2016 Inter-University Chess Tournament, which will be kicking off on the 12th of march this year.

The tournament is generally a pretty casual affair (though we always have a few tough contenders turn up if you’re looking for a challenge) with lunch, snacks and alcoholic beverages provided by means of a bar tab, and a few door prizes given out at random. With contenders from up to 9 different tertiary institutions it’s also a great way to meet new people in a fun, chess-filled atmosphere (see attached images from our 2015 tournament). More info can be found by following this convenient-ass facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/events/1024419320952423/

If you're a university student (or TAFE student, anyone undertaking any kind of tertiary study in fact) then we encourage you to come along for the ride, especially if you're from a smaller institution.

Venue: 328 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne (it’s actually Games Lab’s Tournament hall http://gameslaboratory.com.au/ they’ve very generously agreed to lend us the venue for free)

Date: 12th March 2016

Time: 10:00-4:30 (if you can come a bit earlier for sign-ups that would be neat)

Oh, and did we mention it's 100% free?

Hope to see you there!
