The Gold Coast Lightning is on this Sunday (Nov. 22nd). Visit the Gardiner Chess website for more details. I believe the time control is 5-0.

Cheers,

Correct time control is 5-0.
Start time is scheduled for 9:30am
Aiming for 13 rounds.
Also note extra prize money has been added for junior prizes only. This is on top of the original $340 allocated for the event.

Forgot to mention that the gold coast transfer championships will be following the lighting scheduled to start at 1:30pm

I'm glad there is now a thread for this event - thanks, Kevin. There should be a good turn out, and those for whom 9:30 is too much of a challenge (i.e. half of Bullwinkle...) will still undoubtedly appear for the Transfer.

Up to nearly 40 entries in the lightning with a bunch of the Gardiner Chess coaches taking part as well! Even i'm going to see if I can remember how to push the pieces around at a fast pace!

As Shaun says, Transfer follows the event and again should be an excellent event. Will have to double check where we are up to with numbers on that one a little later.

Registrations can be done online at the Gardiner Chess website:

Anyone capable of dealing with severe disappointment willing to partner up for the transfer? :D
