Who here is doing their HSC this year??

Are you's doing anything special when u's finish?? Schoolies??

I was originally thinking/wanting to go to schoolies, but im not able to due to a number of reasons.

I'll probly just be going down the coast somewhere for a weeks drinking session... etc.
Should be good.

Also, next friday night... up at my mates place, we are having a nice bonfire... to be rif of all those pesky papers.
'till be good.

I'll be going to med interviews, then to Soup Plus for my birthday. After that I'll be overseas for 5 weeks, coming back to more med interviews and uni preparation. Since I'm moving to college and all I have to secure finance from the wonderful Centrelink as well as the Army Reserve. What with all this I don't think I'll have time to learn Cantonese. :(

Heh, me hardcore? My ranking is like lower mediocre... But yeah, 97+ will satisfy me. Hopefully it'll satisfy Mary Stringer too. I would really love a 98 though. It would give me a chance at UNSW second round interview...

Xiao1985 - Damn man. You're just as bad as the others. You pay out the other peeps for saying "damn only got 99.95", and yet u say "i am happie wif anything ova 97". Wot the hell?? 97? its basically the same as sayin "damn only got 99.95".

Lol...

I'll be lucky to get a 70.
Medical?

I should probably make this known before more offence is taken. Xiao and I attend one of the higher selective schools, and so our hopes, and indeed aspirations, are far above the norm because of the school culture in which we have lived for the past six years. I for one am certain that I will not get the 98 I pray for, I'm probably a mid-80s man. Of course, this doesn't prevent me from hoping I get it anyway. :) Xiao, however, is a really dedicated student and has earned consistently astronomical marks. If anything he deserves to expect a similar UAI.

Another thing, UAIs follow the principle of diminishing returns. As you approach the high end it becomes exponentially more difficult to ascend further. Basically, 90 ->95 is twice as difficult as 85 -> 90, and 95 -> 100 is four times as difficult. These aren't true calculations, of course, but you get the idea. There is a world of difference between 99.95 and 97, believe me.

Ambition? I wouldn't bother...to me it looks like it'll be crap. Yes, if I posted this there I'd be demodded, but the whole thing seems like blatant commercialism. It's a joke (and the music would piss me off). No, I'd rather go to Mudgee.

Right! To those that care, today is my 18th birthday. Tomorrow is my first of three Medicine interviews (Newcastle), and Saturday I fly to the Philippines for six weeks. I hope you now all understand why my posting has slowed of late. I may or may not be returning from the Philippines in a different role, but wish you all the best over Christmas and the New Year (and, yes, UAIs). I hope to see the board frequently enough to maintain a presence of sorts, but this may well become impossible. Thus, I thank each of you for all the useful (and sometimes useless :P) comments and opinions, and I hope our membership is even stronger when I get back.

Thanks for the good wishes. Turns out I'm back one more time before flight (in 12 hours) so I might as well update this thread, which is turning into my blog. The interview was Damn good, and I gave it four thumbs out of five (MSN joke). The train trips were terribly long, but I alleviated the boredom by watching The Italian Job on my laptop (on DVD) for half the time and playing Warcraft III for the rest. That is...until the battery died. Then I held onto the laptop like garlic in a room full of vampires and napped for an hour.

Glad to know your interview went well. Thanks aplenty. I have two more when I get back too...

Ok guys, I'm now in the Philippines using prepaid internet credit, which should explain the sudden lack of posts from me. Sorry Jeo.

Things up here are going well, but far too hot. Damn tropics...if you are interested my travel blog is here (http://www.deadjournal.com/users/lexicographer), and by reading it you may find many interesting and/or amusing thoughts on the Philippines. I'll be here every few days, but not for long. Be good children! ;)
