King's Gambit is not a solid opening...but still chess! Why is this is a non-chess thread?

According to Fischer, Spassky said the Kings Gambit doesn't give White very much but then again neither does the Ruy Lopez or Giuoco Piano.

I can recall playing it a couple of times against weaker opposition as well as once against N.Kagan in Vic champs. Many crazy and interesting lines...but way too complicated for my liking

It seems to work well against lower rated opponents who don't know what to do against it...

Hire-rated ones too...sharp openings give everyone a chance

It is great for correspondence. I have been playing it for 50 years. The stodge merchants find the positions difficult to handle.
