Does anyone know of any, which don't require any payment to join?

We will be holding tournaments on our website, when we have our multiplayer chess system up and running.
Till then, check out zone.com/chess. They hold tournaments occasionally.
The best place for tournaments atm would be www.chessclub.com, however they require you to pay.

We may expand the forum to include a place for the asian "chess-type" games, such as Shogi and [insert Chinese name/s for Chinese Chess here]. Check back later, there are more pressing matters for the moment! :)

Yes, I said that. But we'll need people to tell us about it, because I'm a beginner at Chinese Chess and only know the characters because of Japanese. I love the "car". :D Someone start a thread about it in the meantime so we have an idea of what kind of stuff should go into the Asian Variants board (that's not the decided name).
