I'm curious as to why Rogers missed '98 ?

It was in Elista. Rogers boycotted over the killing of Larisa Yudina, a journalist who was murdered while investigating political allegations relating to Ilyumzhinov. A number of selected players made themselves unavailable that year either because they were boycotting or because of concerns about safety.

Thanks, Kevin. I'd suggest that this information should go on the ACF website.

Olympiad teams are defined by ACF as players and captain.

If anyone has a full list of captains that would be worth adding, especially if adding it to the ACF site. My interest in compiling the list last night was to look at the changes in selected players from year to year.

Interesting too, Peter. How did GM Tony Miles get to captain Aus women's team?

Miles was in Australia for a while (and at one stage around then married to an Australian player) but in any case you do not have to be from a nation to be captain of it.

Miles was a great player, strong analyst and well known to a number of Australians. He was however controversial at the 1992 Olympiad.

In my opinion now any Captain of Australia (Open or Women) should be an Australian. I believe that because we are from Australia all players, captains and officials should be Australians.

Women's team captains for the last 8 years were

2004----Sandler

2006----Sandler

2008--Toth

2010--Sandler

Manuel Weeks was Open Team captain since 1992 till 2010 with Andrew Allen from QLD being captain once (if my memory serves me right)
