Dreadful stuff and I hope the organisers will give Ivanchuk every allowance to give him time to recover his composure and sort things out before the Bilbao leg.

This is not the first such instance with Radjabov also the subject of a robbery while playing in a tournament a few years back. It seems the life of an international chessplayer can be a hazardous one sometimes!

Ivanchuk wife's passport was in one of stolen suitcases, which prevent her from coming to Bilbao. Initially Ivanchuk refused to play in Bilbao until it's resolved and his wife can accompany him.
Indeed a terrible stuff.

Very sad for VI and his wife. I do hope the organisers can postpone and Mrs I can get a new passport issued in time.

How can they postpone? Anyways, play has started.
