27th European Club Cup for Men and 16th European Club Cup for Women are going to be held from 24th September to 2nd October 2011 in Slovenia. The event is organized by European Chess Union and will be hosted by Chess Federation of Slovenia and Sahohlacnik (technical organizer). The Championship will be held in Rogaska Slatina, famous spa in Slovenia, located about 100 km from the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, about 100 km from the Croatian capital Zagreb and about 100 km from Graz, the second largest city in Austria.

Within the registered teams appear 147 grandmasters and 11 female holders of the highest chess title. Twenty-four (24) chess players with ELO over 2700 are registered as well as 9 female chess player with ELO over 2500.

The 'St. Petersburg Chess Federation' team (Svidler, Vitiugov, Movsesian, Efimenko, Zvjaginsev, Khairullin and Matlakov) won the 2011 European Club Cup on Saturday in Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia. In the last round World Cup winner Peter Svidler lost his first game since August 15th, but his team defeated Mika (Yerevan) 2.5-3.5. St. Petersburg finished on 13 match points out of 7 rounds, one more than SOCAR (Azerbaijan) who beat OSG Baden Baden 2-4. In the women's section AVS finished first.
