We have 14 confirmed entries already, but not the big name players yet...

'3 IM-norm' and past winner, Greg Canfell is a probable starter.

There are no clashes with other tournaments, so take advantage of the hospitality of the West (and Footscray restaurant strip) and play in this historical event!

Early-bird cut-off ends soon!

FM Greg Canfell is now our highest rated confirmed entrant!

A few regulars such as Bobby Cheng and Chris Wallis have indicated they would have loved to play, but will be busy battling away in Malaysia.

Top juniors taking part include Ari Dale and our own Hobson Bay Hero, Nathan Hibberd.

Due to the hard work and encouragement of chess coaches David Cordover and Peter Caissa, we have plenty of youngsters participating. It is therefore appropriate that we add a couple of junior prizes to the mix. These will be announced at the opening 'ceremony'.

Please note that participants are eligible for one prize only (the highest dollar value one obviously  ).

Only 34 players with Canfell the top seed and juniors way outnumbering the adults (22-12).

Couple of draws and Mae Salazar winning in round one the only results not according to ratings.
