It is with regret that I announce that the 2011 Gold Coast Chess Festival has to be cancelled because of clash with the new dates of 2011/2012 Australlian Championship (27/12/2011-08/11/2012).

Sorry to all those that may have been planning another fun tournament on the Gold Coast, but hopefully we may rise from the ashes further down the track.

Yes it is sad, I was looking forward to playing again.

But fair enough decision, as a lot of players will head off to Victoria.

Probably the existence of Queenstown tourney means everything shifts forward a little bit.

hmm That's a shame.

Is there any chance to wind the tournament back to something a bit lower profile and still run it?

Don't count the tournament out yet. Are the organisers able to play the tournament just after the Australian Open at all?

Will have to be before Christmas, there's Queenstown as well I think? I hope it all comes together Amir! Looking forward to it!
