Just a reminder that the Ford Memorial tournament starts next week - Tuesday August 24th at Norths, Cammeray.

The Ford Lightning tournament is tonight (August 17th). Play starts at 7.50pm at Norths. Entry to the Lightning is $2

Details for the Ford Memorial are as follows:

norths chess club - FORD MEMORIAL OPEN TOURNAMENT 2010 (FIDE-RATED)
VENUE: norths, (formerly North Sydney Leagues Club) 12 Abbott Street Cammeray
- Auditorium on 1st Floor.
norths is a licenced club but juniors are welcolmed. Ample car parking is available at the
premises. Public transport: bus routes 202 to 207 from Wynyard or North Sydney Stations
(alight at the Cammeray shops in Miller Street, which is 200 metres from norths).
EVENT: Ford Memorial Open Tournament 2010.
DATE: Round 1 Tuesday 24 August - play starts at 7.30pm
FORMAT: 9 round Swiss tournament (all rounds and postponements are on Tuesday nights)

Prizegiving (plus Lightning Tournament) Wed 17 Nov.
TIME LIMIT: All moves in 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
ENTRIES: Juniors $15; norths chess club members $25; non-members $35.
PRIZES: Open# 1st $400 2nd $200 3rd $125 4th $75 Handicap* (based on adding actual score to
handicap points allocation) 1st $150 2nd $50 3rd $25. Unrated 1st $75 2nd $50 3rd $25.
Best Senior and Best Junior $100 each Upset $50 per round (biggest upset based on
rating difference) - eligibilty restricted to one upset prize only.
# Open prizewinners ineligible for other prizes other than an upset prize.
* Handicap points allocation - a one-half point for every 100 rating points below 2000 in the range 1000 to 1999.
The Ford Memorial Trophy is awarded to the highest scoring member of norths chess
club .
