I absolutely LOVE this tournament. The Day of Knights rocks...

Alas, I will be in the process offlying back from Africa at the time it's on (I've been exploring some remote rivers and filming some wildlife), so I'll have to miss the 2010 installment.

Next year, fellas...

Kings of chess club is coming with very own Knights and administrators out there.

Even the latest KOC champion Oleg Kitikov and our strongest player Rajko Mastilovic are going to defend our flag:

Furthermore, this Year I have noticed a nice and early start to the tournament. At "Jono" time, used to be: 1st Opening ceremony, then lunch break, then 1st round starts...

Hope the Kings of Chess have a great time.

I won't be there, unfortunately :(

Nice video, well done
Scott

Thank you. It is recorded via mobile phone therefore the quality of the video is not the best.

However, I would like to add that I have recorded this video as I knew that IM Solomon and Brodie McClymont could be the winners and their game in the second round may decide the winner of the tournament.
Furthermore, Brodie ( I think he is now 18 Years of age) is unknown outside of Queensland but is very enthusiastic about chess and he is practically an encycopledia of openings. Promising player ( next QLD IM or GM), but he needs to regulate his temper:doh: ......
The Funny part of this event is that IM Solomon came with his 2 kids to play in the tournament but Brodie was looking more like the child of IM Solomon as he was using every second to stick to him:D .
Nice words in the opening and closing ceremony by Jim Ritchie, President of the Logan Chess club, simple and effective:clap: .

congratulations Brodie on a very fine performance.

Congrats also to Solo for another 1st=.

I think the word "nerves" or "emotions" or "excitement" would fit a little better then "temper".

I have not ever seen, or heard of an instance, where Brodie lost temper in any negative sort of fashion.

Well done to the Logan crew for putting on another excellent day.

Cheers
Garrett.

congratulations Brodie on a very fine performance.

Cheers
Garrett.

I didn't say anything negative about Brodie and the word "temper" is a Latin word and does not mean "that he lost his temper" as usualy said in the english language:hand: .

Thank you Amir, I understand that you meant nothing negative about Brodie. I should probably have clarified that in my post above.

I am going to take your word on the Latin bit, however as you point out the word "temper" and anyone who has an issue with "temper" may have a different connotation in English.

I was only trying to clarify in case people on this board (especially those outside QLD who may not have met him) are not intimate with Latin and think Brodie may "lose his temper" on occasion.

cheers
Garrett.

Most readers on this board know English much better than Latin, so it would be best to stick with the normal English word meanings and idioms to avoid misunderstanding. I too have not seen Brodie lose his temper (he used to visit the Logan club from time to time).

Jono,
I did not use word: "lose his temper or lost his temper".
Either, I ment on "anger".
Read the text once again, there is nothing bad written about Brodie and is more superlative words then anything else.
If he did come in the club so many times why didn't you writte something
nice about him.
You know very well what I wanted to describe.

Amir, I can't read your mind, just your words. In the absence of evidence to the contrary, I presume that they have the normal meaning determined by the context.

Your English is very good, but from time to time, you might want to take advice from a native speaker on how certain words and phrases are perceived.

I now accept that you were not accusing Brodie of losing his temper.

As for why I didn't do something, I can't be everywhere at once.
