Hi Michael, thanks for posting this... How far from Geelong St is Lara St? Frequency of journeys to and from Geelong on Sundays?

Hi JaK,
Thanks for your interest; and good question - the entry form only lists Train Times from Southern Cross to Lara.

Trains from Geelong Station to Lara Station of a Sunday are:

From Geelong to Lara:
Departs Geelong 08:14 arrives Lara 08:28
Departs Geelong 09:32 arrives Lara 09:44
From Lara to Geelong:
Departs Lara 16:40 Arrives Geelong 16:54
Departs Lara 17:40 Arrives Geelong 17:54
Departs Lara 18:45 Arrives Geelong 19:02

It's a 3-minute walk from Lara Station to the playing hall; so you could catch the 09:32 train from Geelong and still make it in time for the 10am close of entries.

Cheers,

Michael.

For the event being run on the 29th August this should be submitted to the CV Ratings Officer ASAP on the night of the 29th so it can be included in the 1st September ACF ratings.

The third leg of the 2010 Geelong Open Rapid Play series was contested by a small but determined field in the quiet surrounds of Lara on a brilliantly sunny October Sunday. Final standings after five rounds:

Michael Sugrue 5/5
Geoffrey Gill 3.5/5
Zoran Babic 3/5
Leon Kempen 2/5
Andrew Wemyss 1.5/5
Sean Kempen 0/5

Thanks to all who participated; Sean Kempen received special commendation as the only junior, acquitting himself well if not victoriously against the battle-hardened veterans.
Special thanks go to Owen Courtis, for smoothly performing DOP duties without a hitch over the three events; and to Bill Stokie for Sponsoring the entire series. See you all again in 2011!
