The program for norths Chess Club this year can be seen on the web site http://www.northsydneychess.org/. It formally begins tonight with a simul by super-arbiter and games-enterer and 2221 (ACF) player Ronald Scott, and next week the club lightning champs will be played. They will be followed by the graded club champs. Enter now for the club champs - they are sure to have strong fields. Contact Norman Greenwood at normg74@mysoul.com.au.

Club champion Vladimir Smirnov is currently either in or on his way back from Tasmania. (The club champion would normally play the simul.)

Last night was round 4. The results (currently up to Round 3) can be found at http://www.northsydneychess.org/events/club-championship

It is worth mentioning that last week Michael Morris scored an upset victory against Vlad in a Nimzowitsch Defence which became an Advanced French with ...Nc6. Michael was white. Michael and Vlad are 2 of the 3 second equal (the other is chess chatter Gareth Charles) behind current leader Adrian Chek on 4.5. 6 rounds have been played though not everyone has yet played 6 games.

The web site is as per previous post.

As above. Congratulations to Peter Lay, Vincent Chen, Norman Greenwood, Thomas Zhou and David Cook for their wins in Candidates and Reserves A, C, D and E2. The Club championship will be decided once postponed games are played.
Especially pleased to see tireless worker for chess Norm Greenwood win his grade. See the same URL as posted 2 messages ago.
Last night norths had the "Little Board" match , now v Harbord Diggers CC. In this match players are pitted against players of approx equal rating and the inaugural such match (first leg of 2, home and away) was won by HDCC 11.5 - 8.5 over 20 boards (and away).
Next Tues norths plays the Big Board match against St. George. norths are at home for the first leg. Generally there are at least 50 boatrds played for this match.

BTW thanks to Brian Jones for including the formation of HDCC in the latest Australasian Chess magazine.
