Lol yep, never played against that before :doh:

I thought I had thought everything out, but once again, i missed the siple check.

I won't prolong the game, 0-1 to Gunner

I don't know if what I played is a thing or not (I suspect it's not), but had you taken with the bishop first, then you wouldn't have dropped a piece and might even be considered better (?) with a continuation such as

1. d4 f5 2. c4 Nf6 3. Nc3 e6 4. g3 d5 5. Bg2 Bd6 6. cxd5 exd5 7. Bxd5 Nxd5 8.Nxd5 Bxg3

with either 9.hxg3 or 9.Qb3

Yea I think that did go through my mind at one point :)

But thanks, I shouldn't fall for that on a OTB game!

Yes, I think white is slightly better after 9. hxg3. The white king will go to g2 via f1, and Black's kingside is slightly weak. If black castles queenside, white can push his queenside pawns, black will push his. I would favor white slightly, but that is just me.

BTW, he can just leave his king in the centre as well, or even castle queenside with correct preparation.
